Amusing Voices
A cozy storybook voice booth: a vintage microphone in the middle, surrounded by puppets and masks on quilted walls: a grumpy green dragon, a jolly pirate, an owl in spectacles, a sad little robot and a wizard on a shelf.

A character voice studio · concept

Every puppet needs a voice.

Amusing Voices is a little studio idea for character voices and voice direction: dragons with indigestion, pirates with feelings, robots running low on hope. Step into the booth, build a voice, and read the line out loud. Nobody's recording. That's the fun part.

Choose a character and a mood, slide the pace and pitch, pick what it's for. You'll get a voice card with direction notes, the way a director would give them.

    Why a person still matters

Synthetic voices can say anything now. What they can't do on their own is decide how: where the breath goes, which word carries the joke, when the dragon should sound tired instead of fierce. That's direction, and it's a craft. Amusing Voices would offer both: real character voices for your project, and voice direction for teams working with recorded or synthetic voices who want them to sound like someone.

Now and then: a new character, a direction tip, a tongue-twister worth doing in the car. And a note if the studio opens.
